Freddie Prinze, Jr. plays a single, successful
chef who is surrounded by his family. He finds
his life under constant scrutiny after inviting
his sister, sister-in-law, niece and grandmother

Note: Megyn Price, who plays Freddie’s
sister-in-law in the pilot, is reportedly being
replaced by Madchen Amick.

|
Our
Take
Wednesday at 8pm will be a crowded night for
sitcoms with offerings from ABC, CBS and even
FOX. Reality will also play a role given the
“You have to look” aspect of Martha Stewart’s
new show.

In
this new sci-fi program, Invasion of the
Body Snatchers comes to South Florida. Eddie
Cibrian plays Russell Varon, a U.S. park ranger
who slowly uncovers an alien invasion occurring
in a small town outside the Everglades that
is being veiled by natural disasters.

|
Our
Take
Invasion is just another peg in the 2005/2006
sci-fi board. The pilot itself leaves more questions
than answers in that it is completely unclear
where the show will proceed based on what we
have seen.

Thomas Gibson (Dharma & Greg) and Mandy
Patinkin (Chicago Hope) team up with
producer Mark Gordon (The Day After Tomorrow)
in a new thriller about a team of profilers
who use their skills to solve crimes by getting
into the mind of the criminal.
|
|
Where

Profiler, The Inside, etc.
|
Our
Take
Criminal Minds, yet another CBS crime
drama, could very easily get “lost” against
the myriad of 9pm dramas. However, CBS does
seem to know crime dramas and they all continue
to garner viewership.

After successful lawyer Jason Payne (Chris
O’Donnell) has a nervous breakdown, he is
assigned support in the form of Shultz (Adam
Goldberg), another attorney with psychiatric
issues. Shultz soon completely integrates
himself into Payne’s life both professionally
and personally.
Note: Rachel Leigh Cook, who plays
Payne’s troubled friend in the pilot, is reportedly
leaving the series.
|
|
Where
Have We Seen This Before
The Odd Couple of law mixed in with
a little insanity (ala the movie Crazy
People, replacing advertising with law)
|
Our
Take
The pilot may be amusing, but the show could
very easily get “lost” among all the different
9pm dramas out there. It is also important
to note that Head Cases is only on
the schedule until January when it will be
displaced by American Idol.

The
Apprentice: Martha Stewart
|
|
NBC
--- Hour Reality --- Wednesday --- 8:00
PM
|
|
Premise
Domestic queen Martha Stewart takes the
main chair as the boss of the new Apprentice.
In the same realm as the original Donald
Trump series, Stewart brings a group of
candidates to compete against one another
to win a job with Martha Stewart Living.
Martha will select the candidate who can
succeed in various tasks involving home
renovation, design, merchandising and more.

The Apprentice
|
Our
Take
The actual product is a big unknown as there
was no pilot to screen. However, we feel
quite strongly that at least the first episode
or two will have viewership driven by expected
high levels of curiosity. (After all, look
how many newscasters waited outside her
prison.)

Bruckheimer’s new one-hour drama. When the
safety of the nation is the ultimate goal,

the nation and the world.
Note: The character of the lead actor’s
wife has been eliminated since the pilot was
shot.

Take

new 9pm dramas, a glut of choices for the
viewer. Complicating matters in January will
be the return of American Idol to the
9pm time slot.

Related follows the lives of the four Sorelli
sisters. They live their separate lives in
New York while also coming together when needed
as a family.
Note: Since the pilot, the producers
have replaced Laura San Giacomo with actress
Kiele Sanchez. However, Sanchez may actually
be playing the second-oldest sister whereas
Giacomo played the eldest.

|
Where
Have We Seen This Before
The NBC series Sisters
|
Our
Take
Chemistry between the actresses playing the
sisters will play a key role in determining
the success or failure of this show. As that
dynamic has been changed since the pilot,
it is hard to predict what might happen.

Faces
Jennifer Esposito (Spin City), Lizzy
Caplan (The Pitts), Kiele Sanchez (Married
