Love Boat: The Next Wave
  • Unlike the WB, UPN is having a more difficult time establishing its identity
  • Voyager continues to be a cult hit against Star Trek fans, The Love Boat seems to be working, and Moesha/Clueless do well against their own niche, however, the rest of the schedule is brand new
  • Additionally, UPN has already taken a great deal of heat from angry viewers for canceling The Sentinel.  Accordingly, they will be bringing this series back later in the year
Guys Like Us

DiResta

The Secret Diary of Desmond Pfeiffer

The Army Show
  • The WB has established itself as a niche network against teens with Buffy, The Vampire Slayer and Dawson’s Creek.  Their success against teens as well as with 7th Heaven, touted as the fasted growing show in Television, is currently placing the WB in the lead in terms of becoming the fifth network
  • In 1998/1999, they are directly confronting Beverly Hills 90210, the onetime king of teenage programming, by moving Dawson’s Creek to Wednesday
Hyperion Bay

Felicity

In this most anticipated drama (which has been likened to a younger version of Ally McBeal), Keri Russell stars as a freshman adjusting to college life

Charmed

Shannen Doherty (Beverly Hills 90210) returns to television along with Holly Marie Combs (Picket Fences) as sisters who discover they are witches in what has been described as a “supernatural thriller”
