Judging Amy
CBS: Tuesday at 10:00pm (Hour Drama)

Premise

Amy Gray is a successful, newly single lawyer who returns to her hometown to become a judge under the watchful eyes of her young daughter and her social-worker mother in this series based on Brenneman’s real-life mother

Mix the woman returning to her hometown plot of Providence with Home Court, an old CBS sitcom about a single mother judge

Familiar Faces

Amy Brenneman (NYPD Blue), Tyne Daly (Cagney & Lacey)

Our Take

While NYPD Blue has clearly established itself in the 10pm time slot, Judging Amy may be able to offer itself up as counter-programming for women

Expect to Hear

Stop looking for answers…formulas.  There aren’t any.  Just trust your instincts”

- Maxine Gray

Ally
FOX: Tuesday at 8:00pm (Half Hour Sitcom)

Premise

FOX is reportedly retooling past episodes of Ally McBeal along with out-take material to form this half-hour companion series

Ally McBeal Lite

Familiar Faces

The stars of Ally McBeal

Our Take

Depending on how the actual product looks, this series will benefit from the success of Ally McBeal as well as airing next to the successful That 70s Show; not to mention that this program is probably relatively inexpensive to produce.  Of course, NBC’s last minute decision to move Just Shoot Me into the 8pm timeslot could cause Ally some trouble

The Mike O'Malley Show
NBC: Tuesday at 9:30pm (Half Hour Sitcom)

Premise

Mike O’Malley is a single man who considers giving up his non-committal, bachelor days after his best friend decides to tie the knot

Where Have We Seen This Before - Men Behaving Badly, Secret Lives of Men, Platypus Man, etc.

Familiar Faces

None

Our Take

This program has a nice slot following Will & Grace and will benefit from the fact that although ABC will present a challenge (with Sports Night), CBS is targeting an older audience (with 60 Minutes II)

Expect to Hear

“You can skate drunk.  That’s why they have the glass up there - To keep us from falling out of the rink”

- Mike

Shasta McNasty
UPN: Tuesday at 8:30pm (Half Hour Sitcom)

Premise

The story of three young irresponsible men living off of an advance they received on a yet-to-be-released musical album

The Monkees meet Men Behaving Badly

Familiar Faces

None

Our Take

This program faces a great deal of competition at 8:30pm and leads into what will probably be one of the weaker 9pm entries

Expect to Hear

"So he stole it hoping to get on ‘America’s Dumbest Criminals’ because we could use the publicity”

- Scott

(talking about how his friend Randy illegally held on to a police tracking device after having been forced to wear one based on a misidentification)

The Strip
UPN: Tuesday at 9:00pm (Hour Drama)

Premise

One hour series following the adventures of two ex-detectives-turned-private investigators in Las Vegas

The TV series Vegas meets any one of a hundred buddy detective series and movies

Familiar Faces

None

Our Take

Similar programs have failed in much easier time slots

Expect to Hear

<<<Not Available for Preview>>>

Angel
WB: Tuesday at 9:00pm (Hour Drama)

Premise

The continuing story of Angel, a vampire cursed with a conscience

[Complete Pilot Not Available for Preview]

Buffy The Vampire Slayer meets Forever Knight

Familiar Faces

David Boreanaz (Buffy The Vampire Slayer)

Our Take

An established character spun-off from (and following) an established hit

Expect to Hear

“Alive for 244 years…I thought I’d seen everything, then, I came to L.A”

- Angel
