Every year, there are certain trends in the new season. This year the following trends seem to be holding true:

- Capitalize on the popularity of O.J./the interest in courtroom drama and lawyers
- Have a "Friends" inspired show about single twentysomethings in New York
- Give a stand-up comedian a show
- Bring back a well known star
