2007/2008
Program Trends
Every
year, there are certain trends in the new season
|
Last
year, we saw the following trends:
|
| |
|
“Serial
Drama ”
|
|
“And
Jutice For All”
|
|
“Sci-Fi
TV ”
|
|
Buoyed
by the success of serial dramas like Lost
and Grey’s Anatomy, 2006/2007 introduced
a plethora of ongoing storylines in new
shows such as Vanished, Kidnapped, The
Nine, Big Day (a serial sitcom) and
all of My Network TV programming
|
|
Cops,
robbers and lawyers were back on the small
screen in such varied shows as Shark,
Justice, Standoff, Smith and The
Knights of Propserity
|
|
The
prior success of Lost contributed
to even more genre sci-fi themed shows including
Heroes, Jericho and Day Break (which
even moved into the Lost time-slot
for a while)
|
|
Here
is a look at this year's trends:
“It's
All Geek to Me”
The
coming season is filled with programs featuring
geeks and nerds including Big Bang Theory
(CBS), Chuck (NBC), Aliens in America
(CW), Reaper (CW) and The IT
Crowd (NBC Mid-season)
|
“Lifestyles
of the Rich and Famous”
For
a peak into the life of the elite, tune in
to Dirty Sexy Money (ABC), Big Shots
(ABC), Gossip Girl (CW) and, in
mid-season, Cashmere Mafia (ABC) and
Lipstick Jungle (NBC)
|
“Sci-Fi
TV - Take Two”
Thanks
to the success of Heroes last year,
the networks are introducing a variety of
new sci-fi/genre programming in 2007/2008
including Moonlight (CBS), Chuck
(NBC), Journeyman (NBC), Bionic
Woman (NBC), Reaper (CW), New
Amsterdam (FOX – Winter) and The Sarah
Connor Chronicles (FOX – Winter)
