2006/2007 Program Trends

Every year, there are certain trends in the new season

Last year, we saw the following trends:

“Lost in Space”
Attack of the Big Screen Actors
“Crime Still Pays”
The success of Lost and Medium resulted in a number of high-concept sci-fi dramas about ghosts, aliens, sea creatures and monsters
A myriad of movie actors moved (or, in some cases, returned) to the small screen in 2005/2006 including Geena Davis; Donald Sutherland; Heather Graham; Freddie Prinze, Jr.; Jennifer Love Hewitt; Melanie Griffith; and Allyson Hannigan

Detectives and lawyers played key roles in a number of new 2005/2006 shows including Close to Home, Just Legal, Head Cases, Killer Instinct, Criminal Minds and Bones in the Fall and The Evidence and In Justice in Mid-Seasons

Here is a look at this year's trends:

“Serial Drama”
Buoyed by the success of serial dramas like Lost and Grey’s Anatomy, 2006/2007 will see a plethora of ongoing storylines in news shows such as Vanished, Kidnapped, The Nine, Big Day (a serial sitcom) and all of My Network TV programming
And Justice For All
Cops, robbers and lawyers are back on the small screen is such varied shows as Shark, Justice, Standoff, Smith and The Knights of Propserity
“Sci-Fi TV”
Lost is also contributing to even more genre sci-fi themed shows including Heroes, Jericho and Day Break (which will even move into the Lost time-slot for a while)
