Snoops
ABC: Sunday at 9:00pm (Hour Drama)

Premise

Snoops follows the misadventures of two mismatched private detectives: Glenn Hall, a woman willing to bend the rules to solve a case, and Dana Plant, a former police detective who is very by-the-book

[ABC is retooling the series / Complete Pilot Not Available for Preview]

Where Have We Seen This Before - Partners in Crime, an 80’s series about female private detectives

Familiar Faces

Movie actress Gina Gershon, Paula Marshall (Cupid)

Our Take

Although this show is being retooled, it is being retooled by David E, Kelley, the creative force behind Ally McBeal and The Practice.  ABC will most likely take extra steps in insuring the success of this program in order to maintain their relationship with Kelley

Malcolm in the Middle
FOX: Sunday at 7:00pm (Half Hour Sitcom)

Premise

Middle child Malcolm tries to deal with a genius IQ as well as an extremely dysfunctional family

The Simpsons meets Married...with Children

Familiar Faces

None

Our Take

If viewers can get past a mother who answers the door topless and a father who has his back shaved in the kitchen, they may actually enjoy the offbeat nature of this sitcom

Expect to Hear

“You kids, you just take your legs for granted…I could be giving you a spanking and accidentally snap your spinal cord.  Every day is a lottery”

- Lois

Third Watch
NBC: Sunday at 8:00pm (Hour Drama)

Premise

From the producer of ER, the story of the paramedics, firemen, and cops of the third watch (3pm to 11pm) in New York

[Complete Pilot Not Available for Preview]

Where Have We Seen This Before - Emergency, the short-lived 90’s series H.E.L.P., True Blue

Familiar Faces

None

Our Take

A quality  program from a strong production team.  Plus, NBC will most likely stick with this show given that they have a lot to gain by keeping the producers of ER happy

Expect to Hear

“We’re solving problems.  We go from job to job solving problems as quickly as we can and then we…go to another problem”

- Officer

Jack and Jill
WB: Sunday at 9:00pm (Hour Drama)

Premise

FThe story of "Jack" (a woman named Jacqueline Sutter) and "Jill" (a man named David Jillefsky) and their burgeoning romance despite the fact that "Jill" already has a girlfriend

[Complete Pilot Not Available for Preview / Amelia ("Jack") Heinle May Be Replaced]

Where Have We Seen This Before - Relativity

Familiar Faces

Soap Opera Actress Amelia Heinle

Our Take

WB hasn’t had much luck with this time slot in the past.  Also, Relativity, a similar program with the strength of ABC died as a result of a bad time slot.  Then again, WB’s ratings expectations will be lower than those of ABC

Expect to Hear

“Guess we know what our friends would call us together…I mean not that we are ever going to have mutual friends together or be together at any point”

- David Jillefsky (after realizing that she is “Jack” and he is “Jill”)
