After
helping the police make a case against a mobster
named Al Fortuno, con-artist Wanda Talbert is
informed that she will be placed in the witness
protection program until she testifies in court.
Knowing that it will be a number of months until
Fortuno goes on trial and based on Wanda's questionable
"con-artist" past, the government decides to assign
veteran New York police officer Joey Paciorek
to keep an eye on her. Despite the fact that they
hate each other, Wanda and Joey proceed to Palm
Springs to assume their new identities. With the
help of Matthew Durning, a former federal marshall,
the two transplanted New Yorkers reluctantly start
posing as newlyweds Dani and Cody Powell. Dani's
discomfort is further compounded when she discovers
that they will be living in a small trailer. Beginning
her job as a receptionist at P.S.I., Dani jumps
at the chance to help a woman named Carole Mallory
when she learns that Vicki Mallory, the woman's
missing sister, holds a winning $26 million lottery
ticket. Not knowing about the ticket (and Dani's
true motives), Cody proceeds with the investigation.
Meanwhile, Dani, having discovered that Vicki
was having an affair with a married man named
Jack Packer, enlists her Uncle Ray's help to search
the Packer home. Realizing how large the house
is, Dani decides to pull a "con" to get some more
help. Therefore, Dani and Ray throw a "fake" charity
reception in order to trick the party guests into
searching the house. Cody, learning of Dani's
plans is all set to put a stop to the party until
he notices that a professional killer named Walrod
is among the party guests. Deciding to follow
Walrod, Cody is led to a funeral home. Later,
realizing that something strange is happening
at the funeral home, Cody and Durning decide to
stop a burial. Expecting to find Vicki's body
inside the casket, they are surprised to discover
Packer's dead body. With their leads dwindling,
Cody and Dani decide to pull a "con" on Walrod.
The plan works and the PSI operatives discover
that Walrod works for Mitzi Packer, Packer's estranged
wife. Thanks to Walrod's confession they manage
to capture Mitzi and rescue Carole (who was being
held until the ticket was discovered). Satisfied
with the Powell's work, Durning allows the PSI
operatives to stay in the Packer home until it
is sold. The case does end on a sad note in one
respect: While starting a fire, Cody accidentally
burns the missing lottery ticket.

As
the episode begins, the Palm Springs police department
uncovers the dead body of an army officer. When
they are unable to determine the cause of death,
they turn to PSI for help. Meanwhile, PSI decides
to help a woman named Janice Hanson discover whether
or not her husband is an assassin. The two cases
seem to connect when a rifle that Jack Hanson
owns matches the description of the futuristic
weapon Fuji believes killed the army officer.
Following Hanson, Cody is led to his own house
and an unsuccessful assassination attempt on Archibald
Berkshire, a guest of Dani's Uncle Ray. Although
Hanson escapes, Cody gets a major lead when he
notices that the killer left behind some old newspapers.
Investigating further, he realizes that Hanson,
who has was brainwashed by two rogue government
agents, is targeting people pictured on the front
page of the newspaper. Noticing that Durning's
picture is in the paper, Dani and Cody rush to
save him. They arrive in time, Durning is rescued,
and Hanson is captured. After insuring that Hanson
will get help, Dani and Cody proceed to "con"
Irwin and Slocum, the rogue agents. Their "con"
works and the two agents "eliminate" each other.

reserved for hotel owner Victoria Brighton, the
police, knowing that Brighton is under investigation
for insider trading, ask PSI to quietly investigate.
Pretending to be protecting Brighton, Cody and
Dani move into the honeymoon suite (which is adjacent
to Brighton's room). Complicating matters is the
presence of Nicole Benton, one of Cody's old girlfriends.
Regardless, Cody proceeds with the case. Following
a hunch, Cody and Fuji discover that the girl
was killed with a mysterious designer drug. In
the meantime, Dani learns that Victoria and Lawrence
Benton, her attorney, have purchased tickets to
go to Rio. The case intensifies after Victoria
is found dead in her hotel room. Nicole becomes
the key suspect when surveillance tapes reveal
that she was in Victoria's hotel room around the
time of the murder. Believing in Nicole's innocence,
Cody conspires with Dani to get evidence against
Louis Santana, Victoria's doctor. With the help
of PSI and the local police department, the Powells
trick Santana into believing that he has successfully
fled to Brazil. As a result, the doctor confesses.

in the desert when they see a sky diver fall to
the ground. Curious, the two youngsters explore
the area and uncover a bag of money. As a result,
they become a target of Shields, one of the men
who killed the sky diver. Although they manage
to evade Shields for the moment, the kids realize
they need protection. They therefore hire an older
Native American named John White Eagle to pose
as their grandfather. White Eagle in turn "hires"
PSI to keep an eye on the children while their
"parents" are out of town. Durning immediately
assigns Cody and Dani to the case. The Powells
realize that there is more to the case than they
were told when Shields and his partner unsuccessfully
try to kidnap the children. Hoping to learn more,
Cody meets with Russell Grayfox, a local tribal
chieftain. Later, Dani, who has grown fond of
the children, decides to protect them by going
on a spending spree. As expected, Shields kidnaps
Dani. Upon learning of the risk Dani is taking
for them, the kids come clean and tell Cody where
they hid the money. Hoping to rescue Dani, Cody
offers to trade the money for her freedom. With
some help from Grayfox and his tribe, Cody manages
to free Dani as well as capture Shields and his
men. Later, Grayfox, who decides to adopt Lilly
and Charlie, uses the recovered money to set up
a trust fund for the children.

Responding
to a PSI alarm, Cody stops some men in a white
van from kidnapping Golden Home Retirement Home
resident Mo Hornsby. Upon hearing of the kidnapping
attempt, Durning assigns the Powells to protect
Mo. In addition, Durning asks Dani to write down
anything that the delirious retirement home resident
might say. Using his detective skills, Cody traces
the mysterious white van to a local club. Following
his lead, Cody discovers that Mark and Kevin,
the unsuccessful kidnappers, are friends of Hornsby
and that they were not kidnapping him but rather
responding to a call for help. Cody also learns
that Hornsby, who ran an illegal casino back in
the 40's (until Bugsy Siegel put him out of business),
has hidden away thousands of golden chips. Realizing
that Durning is hiding something, the Powells
confront the PSI owner. Durning responds by explaining
that he had hoped to avoid bringing up the past
as his uncle, a crooked lawman, was involved with
the casino. Accepting Durning's explanation, the
Powells continue with the case. Based on the evidence,
they realize that Forbes, Hornsby's doctor, has
been pumping Mo with drugs in hopes of discovering
the location of the chips. After dealing with
Forbes, the Powells decide to try rekindling Mo's
memory by reenacting the events of the casino's
last evening of operation. The plan works and
Mo remembers where he hid the chips. To his surprise,
only a few coins are left. Reviewing Mo's records,
the Powells realize that, over the years, Mo has
been giving the chips to a local charity.

The
episode begins three months in the past: Henry
Hobson is innocently driving down the highway
when reputed mobster Jack Trudeau angrily pushes
his estranged wife onto the street. Not expecting
anyone to be on the highway, a surprised Henry
hits and kills Trudeau's wife. Returning to the
present, the episode continues as Henry Hobson
and his wife Bianca go to PSI for protection from
Trudeau. Although Bianca initially believes that
her husband is overreacting to a bully's threats,
she changes her mind after she is almost killed
in a steam room. When Trudeau makes another attempt
on her life, Bianca flees to Mexico with Dani.
Instead of escaping from danger, Bianca and Dani
run into it when they are accosted by some local
residents. To their surprise, Trudeau, continuing
to play his mind games, steps in and kills the
assailants. Back in Palm Springs, the PSI investigators
are concerned that they still do not have any
proof against Trudeau. Dani, pulling another one
of her infamous cons, goes to Trudeau and informs
the mobster of a plan to fake the Hobsons death.
Taking the bait, Trudeau forces the Powells and
Hobsons to board the plane that PSI has planned
to destroy in the plan. After taking the only
parachute, Trudeau, believing that a bomb is on
the plane, leaves them behind to die. Cody, seeing
that the plan has worked, tries to warn the mobster
that the bomb is actually in the parachute. Refusing
to believe Cody, Trudeau triggers the bomb and
kills himself.

owner Emma Gilroy complicates the Powells life by
asking Durning to have the PSI investigators watch
Angus, her temperamental dog, while she is out of

her three daughters and the Powells. The dinner
ends on a sad note when daughters Shauna and Erica
vehemently object to their mother's plans to use
her fortune to fund a disabled children's home that
daughter Leslie will be running. That night, Emma
dies from an overdose of insulin. Shauna and Erica
are furious upon learning that their mother wrote
a new will that leaves $50 million dollars to Angus
and names Dani as the dog's guardian. A dubious
Durning has the will examined and proves that it
is a forgery. Investigating, Cody ties Emma's murder
to the recent death of Jennifer Hill, the late hotel
owner's former accountant. Putting all the clues
together, the Powells realize that Gordon Ross,
Emma's business manager was embezzling money and
that he killed her to cover his tracks. As for the
fake will, they theorize that Ross probably named
Dani as guardian under the false impression that
he could control her. With Dani's help, Cody tricks
Ross into confessing. Later, justice is served when
Leslie, Emma's only decent daughter, is named executer
of her mother's estate. |

when a routine physical indicates that Dani is
pregnant. Upon returning to Palm Springs, Durning
reviews the case and informs Cody that Valerie
is lying as Francis Vincenzo, her alleged father,
is actually a man he helped put in the witness
protection program back in 1974. Cody's attempts
to learn more from Valerie are foiled when Dani,
having learned of the pregnancy, angrily confronts
her "husband". Regardless, Durning uses his own

After Dani is informed that the doctor made a
