|
Premise
After a hit and run accident puts her into an
eight day coma, Samantha Newly (Christina Applegate)
wakes up with retrograde amnesia. She can function
in the world but can’t remember a single fact
of her own life. As Samantha digs through clues,
she learns what everyone else already knows:
she was a horrible person
|
|
Familiar
Faces
Christina Applegate (Married w…Children),
Jennifer Esposito (Spin City),
Barry Watson (7th Heaven),
Jean Smart (Designing Woman),
Tim Russ (Star Trek: Voyager)
|
Our
Take
Samantha Who was one of the more sought
after sitcoms during development season and
the show is filled with a large cast of known
players. The real challenge, however, is it’s
odd placement in the middle of reality programming
|
|
Did
You Know?
The show was originally entitled Sam I Am
until receiving complaints from the estate of
Theodor Seuss Geisel (Dr. Seuss)

CBS
--- Half-Hour Sitcom --- Monday --- 8:30 PM
|
|
Premise
Two brainy best friends (Johnny Galecki, Jim
Parsons) and the remaining members of their
geek squad try to fit into the social world
at the coaching of their sexy new neighbor
(Kaley Cuoco)
|
|
Familiar
Faces
Johnny Galecki (Roseanne),
Kaley Cuoco (Eight Simple Rules)
|
Our
Take
CBS obviously has a lock with their established
comedy line-up on Monday night. That being
said, The Big Bang Theory is not necessarily
as strong as the other CBS sitcoms
|
|
Did
You Know?
Kaley Cuoco returns to comedy after spending
a year on the series Charmed

FOX
--- Hour Drama --- Monday --- 9:00 PM

|
Premise
Two years after Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans
is still in the process of rebuilding – and
law enforcement is challenged more than ever
before. However, Marlin Boulet (Anthony Anderson)
and his new partner Trevor Cobb (Cole Hauser)
refuse to let anything stand in their way of
their quest to bring order to the city
Note: Post-pilot, the producers have
added Amanda Righetti (The O.C./North Shore)
to the cast
|
|
Familiar
Faces
Movie and TV actors Anthony Anderson and Cole
Hauser
|
Our
Take
K-Ville is a strong drama with a deep,
emotional plot. The only questions are: (1)
Is it too soon for TV to be exploring New Orleans?
and (2) is this show too serious to run next
to Prison Break?
|
|
Did
You Know?
Anthony Anderson has made a career switching
back between more comedic and more dramatic
roles

NBC
--- Hour Drama --- Monday --- 8:00 PM
|
|
Premise
Chuck Bartowski (Zachary Levi) is a nerdy computer
tech who finds his entire life changed when
an old friend sends him an email that downloads
a database of sensitive government secrets into
his head. Now he finds himself teaming with
an attractive government agent as he tries to
use his new knowledge to help his country
|
|
Familiar
Faces
Zachary Levy (Less Than Perfect),
Adam Baldwin (Serenity),
Sarah Lancaster (Everwood/What About Brian)
|
Our
Take
On the surface, Chuck seems to be a very
compatible timeslot companion to Heroes.
It also benefits from having Josh Schwartz (The
O.C.) and McG behind the scenes. However,
it was unclear from the pilot of exactly what
direction the series will take
|
|
Did
You Know?
This show, which was moved to Monday after the
Upfront, bears somewhat of a resemblance to
Jake 2.0, a UPN drama about a nerdy computer
tech who accidentally receives a government
project upgrade
|
|
|
|
|
|
NBC
--- Hour Drama --- Monday --- 10:00 PM
|
|
Premise
San Francisco newspaper reporter Dan Vasser
suddenly finds his life in turmoil when he
begins traveling back and forth in time. Complicating
matters is how his travels impact his marriage,
especially when he begins running into his
now-deceased former fiancée during his journeys
|
|
Familiar
Faces
Kevin McKidd (Rome), Moon Bloodgood
(Day Break), Gretchen Egolf (Martial
Law)
|
Our
Take
Journeyman has a great advantage leading
out from Heroes. However, this has
been a challenging timeslot for NBC based
on the competition from CSI: Miami
|
|
Did
You Know?
While this show has been consistently compared
to Quantum Leap, the only real connection
between the two is that both lead characters
go back in time and help people. Unlike Quantum,
Vasser does not leap into other people

CW
--- Half-Hour Sitcom --- Monday --- 8:30 PM
|
|
Premise
Nerdy 16-yeard old Justin Tolchuk (Dan Byrd)
is having trouble fitting in at school. Hoping
to help him out, Justin’s mother decides to
find him a friend by hosting a foreign exchange
student. However, the plan goes awry when
the student turns out to be a Muslim teenager
from Pakistan
Note: Post-pilot, the producers have
recast Scott Patterson as the father
|
|
Familiar
Faces
Scott Patterson (Gilmore Girls),
Amy Pietz (Caroline in the City)
|
Our
Take
The pilot of this program is amusing and CW
is obviously not expecting to win the time
period. The only question is whether or not
this program fits in with the more ethnic
sitcoms on the rest of the night
|
|
Did
You Know?
It’s battle of the geeks on Monday from 8-9pm
with Aliens in America competing against
Chuck on NBC and The Big Bang Theory
