Billionaire businessman Mark Cuban is the benefactor.
He is set to give away a million bucks to a
complete stranger. In addition to 16 established
contestants, Cuban will also give gifts to non-contestants
he meets along the way.

(a 1950’s drama about an eccentric millionaire
who gave out money)

|
Our
Take
Between Fear Factor and the CBS comedy
line-up, there are not a lot of viewers available
for the taking (especially when you consider
the family draw of WB and the urban draw of
UPN). Of course, pending on how the actual show
looks, there may be some synergy with Monday
Night Football.

Seinfeld’s Jason Alexander takes on the
role of popular columnist and sports broadcaster
Tony Kleinman, a character based on Tony Kornheiser.
As the series begins, Tony expands from writing
only about sports to penning a humorous syndicated
newspaper column. To his horror, he soon learns
that humorous observations about his family
bring trouble at home.
|
|
Sports
columnists have previously been seen in Dave’s
World, Everybody Loves Raymond, etc.
|
|
Familiar
Faces
Jason Alexander (Seinfeld),
Malcolm-Jamal Warner (The Cosby Show)
|
Our
Take
Listen Up will clearly benefit from its
timeslot in the CBS lineup. One key issue, however,
is the chemistry with the actress who will be
playing his wife. (The actress in the pilot
has been replaced.) There is also the matter
of the supposed Seinfeld curse.
|
|
Expect
to Hear
"Some
people walk on the moon. Others command great
armies. I can claim a more impressive feat.
I am always wrong."
-
Tony Kleinman

Taking a long leap from Melrose Place
and Spin City, Heather Locklear is in
charge (along with Blair Underwood) of the Los
Angeles International Airport where a normal
day at the office includes terrorist threats,
illegal immigrants and drug busts. A constant
power struggle between Locklear and Underwood’s
characters, romance and surprises find their
way on the runway as well.

Familiar
Faces
Heather Locklear (Melrose Place, T.J. Hooker,
Spin City), Blair Underwood (LA Law)
|
Our
Take
LAX will face tough competition from
C.S.I. Miami (not to mention Monday
Night Football). Of course, NBC has been
known to stick with lower-rated dramas on this
night (such as was the case for years with Third
Watch).
|
|
Expect
to Hear
Security
Guard: “Hi. Welcome to the United States
of America.”
Foreign Traveler: “Thank you. What a beautiful
dog.”
Security Guard: “So, where are you hiding
the drugs?"

UPN

Premise
This new show is for all those couples who
once broke-up and find themselves back together
again. With all the ups and downs of a rekindled
relationship, characters Jackson and Ryan
Muse enjoy their new-found love and marriage
while tackling the constant reminders of their
past.
|
|
The
Chevy Chase/Goldie Hawn movie Seems Like
Old Times also featured a divorced couple
who eventually got back together
|
|
Familiar
Faces
Real-life couple Boris Kodjoe and Nicole Parker
(Soul Food)
|
Our
Take
Second Time Around should fit nicely
in UPN’s Monday night urban schedule.
|
|
Expect
to Hear
Ryan:
"That’s exactly why we decided to
leave the past in the past, so we wouldn’t
have the present conversation in the future."
Jackson: "And you should have known…you
would have this future conversation in the
present."

Premise
A hospital drama that follows the toughest
surgical residency program west of Harvard.
If these students can make it through seven
years at Grace Hospital, then they can survive
anywhere. Complicating matters for resident
Meredith Grey is the fact that she is following
in the footsteps of her mother, a very successful,
yet disapproving, doctor.

|
ER
meets the short-lived ABC series Gideon’s
Crossing
|
|
Familiar
Faces
Ellen Pompeo (Old School)
Patrick Dempsey (Sweet Home Alabama)
|
Our
Take
The 2000 ABC series Gideon’s Crossing
had a similar plot and even ran in this
timeslot briefly yet failed to succeed.
Additionally, C.S.I. Miami has pretty
much quickly become the dominant Monday
10pm force. While the show will not win
the timeslot, a key question is whether
it can beat LAX.
|
|
Expect
to Hear
“A
month ago you were medical students being
taught by doctors. Now you are the doctors.
The seven years you spend as a surgical
resident will be the best and worst of your
life ."
-
Dr. Preston Burke

Premise
This TBD drama from the creative force

set in the New England community of Athens.
It will reportedly follow the fine line

|
Our
Take
Very little is known about this show beyond
a quick network blurb. (The show may not
even have been cast yet.) Additionally,
FOX has had trouble with soaps in this
timeslot, as seen over the summer with
North Shore.
