MacGyver is sent to recover a capsule containing
a deadly organism. The capsule was lost when
a satellite containing it crashed to earth.
MacGyver recovers the capsule and discovers
that the organism has killed all life in the
area. Unfortunately, MacGyver's radio goes out
but he is able to rig a radio out of the fallen
satellite. Thereby, he barely escapes before
the military implements project "Firestorm"
and firebombs the area (in order to kill any
traces of the organism). Back at a Phoenix lab,
Dr. Sandra Milhouse, who had illegally smuggled
her organism aboard the satellite, is told to
destroy all traces of it. Not wanting to destroy
her experiment, she keeps a sample of the organism.
An accident in the lab exposes her to the organism
and she dies of old age. MacGyver and Pete barely
escape the lab before it self destructs as part
of a containment program.

Pete is spearheading a Phoenix project to disarm
nuclear weapons. When an accident on the project
critically injures some Phoenix employees, Pete
blames himself and resigns. Pete's replacement
is Matt Webber, who is working on security for
the visit of Minister Amunde. Webber, who does
not think that the United States should be talking
to people like former anti-American subversive
Amunde, is conspiring with two crooked government
agents to kill the minister. MacGyver and Nikki
discover that the accident at the disarmament
site was actually sabotage and Nikki reports
the incident to Webber. Webber takes her captive
in order to cover his tracks and then his men
proceed to attack and capture Amunde's train.
MacGyver and Pete arrive, free Nikki and Amunde,
and bring Webber to Justice. Pete, who plans
on taking a well deserved vacation, is reinstated
as Phoenix Director of Operations.

MacGyver
is in Minnesota helping out Turk Donner, his
former high school coach, by coaching the Raiders,
a high school hockey team. Derek Kirby, the
team's best player, plays too rough for MacGyver's
taste. However, MacGyver believes Kirby is Olympic
material and intends to turn the kid around.
On the other hand, Derek's father wants his
son to sign with a professional team. Derek
decides to play the next game MacGyver's way
but changes his style when a scout from the
Mustangs, a professional team known for playing
rough, tells him to "bash heads" or lose his
chance to play for their team. Derek plays rough
and in the process another player is injured.
The next day, the Mustangs make an offer and
Derek accepts. MacGyver, concerned for Derek's
future, convinces the boy to play one last game
with the Raiders. Derek plays MacGyver's way
and the Raiders win. A scout from the Olympics
witnesses Derek's performance in the game and
offers him a spot on Team USA. Derek's father
comes to accept his son's decision to play on
an Olympic team.

MacGyver,
investigating whether or not a development project
will have a negative impact on the local environment,
is approached by Remick, the project's developer,
and offered a thinly disguised bribe to conclude
that the project will cause no problems. MacGyver
obviously refuses the bribe and then testifies
that he needs more time to study the situation.
He receives the additional time. When further
threats against MacGyver fail, Knapp, Remick's
boss, hires a negotiator in order to guarantee
that MacGyver will no longer be a problem. Deborah,
the negotiator, Joins MacGyver's art class and
eventually becomes the troubleshooter's girlfriend.
Under the guise of "loving" advice, Deborah
tells MacGyver to play it safe by heeding Remick's
threats and stopping the environmental study.
MacGyver proceeds with the study and Deborah
responds by planting a bomb in his boat. MacGyver
survives the explosion but is temporarily blinded.
Pete and Nikki figure out that Deborah planted
the bomb but it is too late as the negotiator
has already taken MacGyver to an abandoned warehouse
in order to kill him. MacGyver catches on to
Deborah's true nature and, while slowly regaining
his vision, uses the items in the warehouse
to stop the negotiator. An imprisoned Deborah
testifies against the developers in order to
get a reduced sentence.

soon learns that the hermit, a mountain recluse
known as "Earthquake," had attacked the men

his dog. Although the dumpers escape, Pete is
able to figure out who is behind the illegal
dumpings: Martin Farber. MacGyver and Earthquake
go undercover into Farber's plant and Earthquake
recognizes the dumper. Farber successfully bypasses
the legal system when Earthquake, who has become
a recluse due to his horrible temper, is tricked
into losing his cool in court. Farber further
discredits Earthquake when he has one of his
men kill the dumper and frame the hermit for
the murder. Earthquake resists arrest and storms
over to the chemical plant only to be caught
by Farber. MacGyver arrives, rescues Earthquake,
and obtains evidence that incriminates Farber.
As the episode ends, MacGyver visits Earthquake
and provides him with a new dog.
