As
the third season opens, MacGyver and the Phoenix
Foundation are guarding the Ming Dragon, a treasure
of China. MacGyver is in the hotel reviewing
security procedures when he sees Lisa, a woman
he had loved and lost two years ago. A flashback
reveals how MacGyver was in the Baltics helping
a resistance group destroy a weapons factory.
During the assignment, Lisa and MacGyver developed
a relationship that proved short lived as she
was killed when leaving the factory. Back in
the present, MacGyver receives a message from
Lisa: She is alive and she wants to meet him.
They meet and she explains how she was not killed
after the mission but instead she was captured.
In a prison camp, she met Major Nikolai Kossoff,
a disgraced KGB agent who was being punished
for his failures. Now, Lisa and Kossoff want
MacGyver to help them defect. MacGyver and Jack
Dalton, who is at the hotel performing a magic
show, proceed with the defection. Unfortunately,
Lisa is captured by General Racoubian and Tanya.
Racoubian tells MacGyver to steal the Ming dragon
or Lisa will be killed.

MacGyver and Jack successfully bypass security
and steal the Ming dragon. However, rather then
Just handing over the dragon to Tanya, MacGyver
and Jack elude her through Chinatown and then
arrange for a trade on their terms. The trade
goes according to plans and Lisa is freed. Lisa
then begs MacGyver to help her rescue Kossoff.
They proceed to Racoubian's house and are soon
captured when Lisa reveals herself as a soviet
agent. Racoubian explains how Lisa, who is not
really married to Kossoff, has been working
for their side even during MacGyver's mission
to the Baltics. The soviet general then discusses
his plan: Chinese-Soviet relations will be strengthened
when a soviet representative returns a treasure
that had been stolen by MacGyver, an American.
Lisa, who really does love MacGyver, helps Jack
and MacGyver to escape. Unfortunately, Lisa
is shot and she dies in MacGyver's arms. The
Phoenix troubleshooter then retrieves the "real"
Ming dragon which he had hidden earlier in a
Chinatown shop.

Danny Barrett, an insurance investigator, contacts
his friend MacGyver and asks for help in breaking
into a foreign consulate's computer system.
He further explains that he has been investigating
a diplomat named Amir Sumal and the computer
information will hopefully tie Sumal to a number
of Jewelry heists. While walking to his car,
Danny is struck and killed by a speeding automobile,
MacGyver, deciding to "nail" the thief who killed
his friend, sneaks into a party at Sumal's consulate.
While breaking into the consulate computer,
he runs into a woman who has also snuck into
the party. The two party crashers are discovered
but manage to escape. MacGyver soon learns that
the woman is Nikki Carpenter, Danny's sister.
They decide to work together to stop Sumal by
forcing him to be caught red handed pulling
another robbery. Although Sumal's diplomatic
immunity will keep him from being arrested,
MacGyver hopes that at least the diplomat will
be deported. Sumal is tricked into believing
that Pete is a major diamond broker named Blaine
and that Nikki and MacGyver are criminals planning
on stealing Blaine's collection. MacGyver then
sneaks into the consulate and borrows Sumal's
stolen diamonds. Therefore, Sumal, who involves
himself in the Blaine robbery, ends up stealing
his own loot. Upon returning to the consulate
from the burglary, Sumal's briefcase (with a
little help from a MacGyver triggered device)
opens and the diamonds spill out in front of
Ambassador Vulnay. The ambassador vows that
Sumal will be punished in his own country.

Tech, to Judge the annual barricade contest.

to build barricades that their classmates can
not penetrate. Former contest winners include

and misses seeing the post office explode.
Later, Erik Holland, the man who had planted
the post office bomb, realizing that Nikki

gets her address from her purse and then tries
unsuccessfully to run her down with his car.
Meanwhile, Erik Holland's boss, a man known
as The Major, takes responsibility for the
post office bombing and vows that unless terrorist
leader Marcus is released from prison, his
people will blow up an entire street block.
MacGyver soon stops a second attempt on Nikki's
life when he arrives in her apartment and

the assailant escapes, he leaves behind a
clue: asbestos wire. MacGyver and Nikki, connecting
