MacGyver successfully bypasses the underground facilities security and meets up with Dr. Jill Ludlam, the system's designer. Dr. Ludlam attempts to turn off the security system but, unfortunately, the fifth generation computer system (known as SANDY), does not realize that the exercise was a test. MacGyver and Dr. Ludlam are then forced to evade laser beams and robot drones as SANDY attempts to eliminate the "intruders." Using his ingenuity, MacGyver soon shorts out SANDY and proceeds with Dr. Ludlam to the exhaust fan maintenance shaft. Pete, guessing that MacGyver would try to exit through the shaft, shuts down the exhaust system thereby allowing MacGyver and Dr. Ludlam to escape.

Airdate: Oct. 6, 1986

Pete, posing as a crooked police officer, and MacGyver head to the race track. Standing in front of Crowe, they discuss a major money making deal. Crowe, taking the bait, asks to be cut in on the deal. Meanwhile, Joanne Remmings, an enthusiastic Phoenix employee with an expertise in "bunko" scams, has decided that she also wants to help. She follows MacGyver and helps to present the plan to Crowe. Crowe is further convinced that Pete is "crooked" when he witnesses a "fake" drug deal with a disguised Kelly. Pete and MacGyver then lay out the plan for Crowe: Pete will bring money, supposedly taken in a drug bust, into the police evidence room. Once inside, they will be able to steal the drugs. Since Crowe's money is being used for the operation, Joanne is taken as a hostage. Crowe, who goes with Pete into the police station, is knocked out and left in the evidence room. MacGyver then disguises himself as Crowe and draws Crowe's men out into the open. Joanne is freed and Crowe's money is kept in order to repay the people that were swindled. Crowe and his men are arrested. Note: Joanne is impressed how MacGyver uses everyday items to create whatever he needs ("MacGyverisms"). In an interesting scene, she hands MacGyver her glasses, hair pins, and shirt buttons thinking that he needs the items for a "MacGyverism." Actually, MacGyver was just trying to make her more attractive.
