Hot Properties
ABC --- Hour-Hour Sitcom --- Friday --- 9:30 PM

Premise
Ava, Lola and Chloe are co-workers at a Manhattan real estate office. The series portrays their interaction among themselves as well as with other professionals in their office building.

Where Have We Seen This Before
Designing Women meets the 1989 Fox series Open House

Our Take
Over the years, ABC has seen their Friday night comedy block continue to deteriorate. (They are nowhere near where they were in the old TGIF days.) Additionally, ABC has become quicker to pull the plug on under-performing Friday night shows.

Familiar Faces
Nicole Sullivan (Mad TV/King of Queens), Evan Handler (It’s Like, You Know), Gail O’Grady (American Dreams)

Ghost Whisperer
CBS --- Hour Drama --- Friday --- 8:00 PM

In the mold of Sixth Sense and Medium, Ghost Whisperer features Jennifer Love Hewitt as Melinda Gordon, a woman with the ability to communicate with the dead. Following in the footsteps of the short-lived series Dead Last, the dead will continue to visit her until she helps them with any unfinished business they may have.

Where Have We Seen This Before
The Sixth Sense meets Medium meets Dead Last

Our Take
It is unclear why CBS believes Ghost Whisperer will perform better than Joan of Arcadia (the show it is replacing) – especially considering that Joan was critically acclaimed.

Familiar Faces
Jennifer Love Hewitt (Party of Five/Movie I Know What You Did Last Summer), Aisha Tyler (Friends/CSI/24)

Threshold
CBS --- Hour Drama --- Friday --- 9:00 PM

Premise
A team of professionals is hired to investigate the landing of an extraterrestrial craft in the middle of the ocean. Operation: Threshold comes into play as the team prepares for the possible reason this craft has landed: an alien invasion.

Where Have We Seen This Before
See Invasion

Our Take
Sci-fi and Friday have always been problematic. With the exception of The X-Files, sci-fi shows have been dying on Friday all the way back to the original Star Trek in the ’60s. Additionally, this show does not really fit between Ghost Whisperer and Numb3rs.

Familiar Faces
Carla Gugino (Spin City/Movie Spy Kids), Charles S. Dutton (Roc), Brent Spiner (Star Trek: The Next Generation)

Killer Instinct
FOX --- Hour Drama --- Friday --- 9:00 PM

Premise
Killer Instinct features Graham (Johnny Messner), Ava (Marguerite Moreau) and Lieutenant Matt Cavanaugh (Chi McBride), a team of investigators working on the San Francisco Police Department’s Deviant Crime Unit. They uncover the secrets behind some of the city’s most unusual crimes and criminals, but can they uncover their own agendas that led them to work on the crime unit in the first place.

Where Have We Seen This Before
Criminal Minds meets Silence of the Lambs meets Profiler

Our Take
While crime dramas are the rage these days, FOX has yet to produce a successful one. Additionally, this time slot has always been problematic for FOX (with The X-Files as a lone exception).

Familiar Faces
Marguerite Moreau (Life As We Know It),
Chi McBride (Boston Public)

Three Wishes
NBC --- Hour Reality --- Friday --- 8:00 PM

Premise
Grammy-winning singer Amy Grant travels the country to visit small towns to help make the dreams of deserving people come true. The title Three Wishes comes from the fact that she will be fulfilling three “dreams” in each episode.

Where Have We Seen This Before
Touched by an Angel meets Extreme Home Makeover

Our Take
Without a pilot to review, it is hard to predict how this series will perform. If the final product is endearing enough, it could follow in the path of Extreme Home Makeover. However, the jury is still out.

Familiar Faces
Singer Amy Grant

Inconceivable
NBC --- Hour Drama --- Friday --- 10:00 PM

Premise
The realities behind fertility clinics are revealed in this new one-hour drama. The doctors at the Family Options Fertility Clinic are in the business of helping women become pregnant safely. The series will follow not only the patients, but also the lives of the clinic employees themselves.

Note: Despite appearing prominently in the pilot, Alfre Woodard will probably not be on this show as she is reportedly joining the cast of Desperate Housewives.

Where Have We Seen This Before
The short run series L.A. Doctors in a fertility clinic

Our Take
This is a show that depends heavily on the interaction between the characters. Considering that the pilot features Alfre Woodard (who will likely not be in the cast), but not Angie Harmon (who will be in the cast), it is hard to know how the final product will look.

Familiar Faces
Ming-Na (ER), Angie Harmon (Law & Order)

Twins
WB --- Half-Hour Sitcom --- Friday --- 8:30 PM

Premise
Brains and beauty unite and collide when Mitchee (Sara Gilbert) and Farrah (Molly Stanton), twin sisters with nothing in common, find themselves working together in the family lingerie business. The series also features their parents – another strangely mis-matched pair.

Where Have We Seen This Before
The movie Twins gets a sex change

Our Take
Twins will most likely fit in among the other WB Friday night shows. On the other hand, there are probably a dozen examples by now of Friday WB shows that did not make the cut.

Familiar Faces
Sara Gilbert (Roseanne), Mark Linn-Baker (Perfect Strangers), Melanie Griffith (Movie Working Girl)
