The
Big Idea
A
trio of twentysomething friends face new challenges
in their relationship when two of the friends
decide to marry
|
|
Behind
the Scenes
Of
all the Friends clones, this is the only
one from some of the producers of Friends.
Accordingly, this recipe is a little more
cooked: Friends - The Next Generation. In Friends, all of the characters are
single. This
show advances the sitcom time line by maturing
two of the characters enough to move into a commitment

|
Our
Take
As
stated previously, forget the plot, look at the
execution. In this case, the execution seems to be okay
thanks to a nice cast and a good writing team.
Parts of the pilot (including the engagement
scene) were hilarious. If the producers can keep it up (and -more
importantly - if viewers will tune away from competing
Murphy Brown) this could be a successful
sitcom

The
Big Idea
The
luckiest and unluckiest man alive.
Photojournalist Chance Harper faces the
normal action/adventure television misadventures
with the added benefit of always being in the
right place at either the right time or the absolute
wrong time
|
|
Behind
the Scenes
For
years, television producers have always grappled
with the problem of continually moving their television
heroes into new and exciting adventures each week. The major flaw has always been that it is improbably,
even if you work in law enforcement, that you
will have an exciting adventure every single week.
The producers of this show have finally
resolved the dilemma: Chance Harper faces a new adventure each week
because of his luck.
Are all these adventures too convenient
and too much of a coincidence? Yes, but that is because of his luck
|
|
Our
Take
The
pilot was well done.
Also, this show will make an appropriate
lead-in for The X-Files. Adventure shows are always risky due to their
relative high cost in comparison to sitcoms. On the other hand, FOX is normally more tolerant when it comes to
ratings if they believe in a show.
If FOX gives this show support, if viewers
tune in and if the quality of the pilot is maintained,
perhaps the network will finally have an X-Files
lead-in that lasts more than three months

Behind
the Scenes
Take
two of the former writers of the X-Files,
the action of a war movie and the increasing popularity
of science fiction.
In other words, good writing with the excitement
of action and special effects.
Oh, there is also a plot as the producers
will follow the personal struggles of the young
pilots in addition to the global war issues
|
|
Our
Take
This
is an exciting show.
Science Fiction programs have always teetered
between being poorly written, action shows and
overly written, intellectual morality plays.
Finally, we have a show that offers plenty
of action and special effects but from a top notch
creative team
