The Maltese Cow

The Maltese Cow
Airdate: Dec. 13, 1983
A Chinese tong makes a critical error when they try to extort money from the Golden Pagoda restaurant, as Sam Yeng, the Pagoda's owner, is close friends with the A -Team. The team arrives and learns that Sun Yeng, Sam's daughter, knows one of the extorters: Tommy Chen. She further explains that Tommy only joined the tong because his parents were threatened. After repelling a second attempt by the tong to attack the Pagoda, the team visits Tommy and learns that the Tong is helping departed mobster Chris Thomas illegally enter the country. While Murdock pretends to act like Phillip Marlowe seeking the "Maltese Cow", the team proceeds with their plan. Accordingly, they break into the tong headquarters and obtain money damages from tong leader Wan Chu. Next, they attempt to stop Chris Thomas. However, the police arrive on the scene and take the team into custody. Of course, they are able to escape and learn that Wan Chu has taken Tommy and the Yengs hostage. In response, the team raids Wan Chu's laundry and uses some fireworks they find to capture both the tong members and Thomas. Surprisingly, Murdock finds a statue that looks a lot like his imaginary Maltese Cow. Inside of the statue, the team finds microfilm-containing records on Thomas' past illegal activities.

In Plane Sight
Airdate: Jan. 3, 1984
After a pilot named Robbie Hicks is arrested in Venezuela for transporting illegal drugs, his cousin Judy Rogers hires the A-Team. The team meets with Jes and Carrie Hicks and learns that it is highly unlikely that their son Robbie would be intentionally carrying drugs. The team then pays a visit on Al Jackson, Robbie's partner, and discovers that the drug operation (of which Robbie was unaware) is being organized from Columbia. Then, after Judy hypnotizes B.A. so that the team can get him on a plane, they make the next drug run with Murdock disguised as Dick Nash, Jackson's newest pilot. When they make the drug pickup, the team learns that a man named Winston Corliss is behind the operation. Murdock's cover is blown and they are forced to take the plane and make a hasty retreat from the airport. Thereby, Murdock pretends to crash the drug-filled plane in the jungle. Corliss hears about the crash and follows Murdock, who was in the hospital pretending to be injured, back to the plane. In preparation, the team has changed some road signs and moved the plane from Columbia (where Corliss has no fear of prosecution) to Venezuela. They almost run into some trouble, however, when a Venezuelan colonel named Sanchez arrives prematurely. However, they evade Sanchez until after Corliss is led to the plane full of drugs. Corliss is caught red handed and soon arrested. Later, the team receives word that Robbie has been exonerated of all crimes.

Say it with Bullets
Airdate: Jan. 17, 1984
When Corporal Charlotte Brown approaches the A -Team for help, they are somewhat hesitant to work for fear that it is a military trap. However, they decide to accept the job after hearing that Charlotte's brother was murdered by an army Lieutenant named Harnett, who has been illegally selling military weapons to a man named Shaw. Upon searching Hamett's home, the team learns the location of Harnett's weapons supply. They then proceed to the storage site and locate the weapons; but not without running into (and being forced to fight off) Shaw and his men. Later, in full army uniform, Hannibal, B.A., and Face go to the army base in order to search Harnett's office. At the same time, Tawnia waits outside the base for Hamett. As predicted, the lieutenant is attracted to her. However, Tawnia is caught trying to plant a bug. Meanwhile, back at the base, Charlotte shows her true colors (as a military plant) and Decker attempts to capture the team. They manage to escape to the house that Decker has been staying in. While Charlotte explains that she turned the team in since Decker promised to catch her brother's killer, the team sets up a record player and some speakers with a "sounds of war" soundtrack. While the recording distracts Decker, the team sneaks out the back of the house, "borrows" a tank, and leaves the base. Outside they meet up with Tawnia, who had been freed by Murdock. The team then uses the tank to successfully capture Harnett and Shaw. Later, Charlotte, realizing her mistake in working with Decker, thanks the team. (Note: Murdock acts especially crazy in this episode. Thinking that he is a TV show, he acts out a number of slightly familiar programs including "I Love Murdock", "Leave it to Murdock" and "Have Murdock Will Travel".)

Murdock and Face, who knew Taylor in Vietnam, then go to a local dentist and obtain some nitrous oxide. When the next moonshine delivery arrives at the club, the nitrous oxide-enhanced team van is prepared to follow. The A-Team then destroys the moonshine shipment. Drew, upset by the recent developments, visits the team and warns them to stay out of his way. Meanwhile, Murdock installs a mini camera under Draw's truck. Afterwards, Face returns to the casino and realizes that Lila, a casino employee, is providing the Scorpions with information on potential targets. The team, having triangulated the Scorpion's location from Lila's latest transmission, once again runs into the gang. However, the Scorpions are involved in full-blown military maneuvers and the team is forced to flee. Realizing that there is a lot more going on than simple robberies, the team follows Lila to a nearby prison where she visits her boyfriend, a former Scorpion leader named Driscoll. After Lila's visit, the team captures her and discovers that the Scorpions are planning a jailbreak when Driscoll is transferred to another prison. Following a lead from Davey, the team visits a reformed car thief and discovers the name of the man behind the thefts: Sam Friendly. Face then cons his way onto the staff at Friendly's used car store. Once there, he is able to get into the safe and photograph Friendly's schedule. Although they locate the van, they are captured when mobster Tony Victor shows up. After Victor leaves in some fake police cars, the team escapes from Friendly and realizes that Victor is about to assassinate a district attorney at a judge's funeral. Harder Than It Looks
Airdate: Feb. 21, 1984
The A-Team is hired to rescue Jennifer Teasdale from a terrorist organization. Contrary to Hannibal's predictions, the operation is not a "piece of cake", as Jennifer is freed but a number of things go wrong - not the least of which is the loss of the ransom money. Matters are worsened because Jennifer has fallen in love with terrorist member Marcus, and wants to go back and rescue him (before the terrorists realize that he was helping her). The team re-enters the terrorist headquarters, where Marcus is rescued and the money is recovered. Their mission is not yet over, however, as the team needs to stop the terrorist organization from blowing up a nearby dam. Of course, they go to the dam and swiftly capture the terrorists. Later, when Jennifer's father calls the military in order to renege on his payment to the team, the A-Team gives the ransom money (minus a modest fee) to Jennifer and not to her father.

It looks like the A-Team have finally met their match when a group of criminals hire a mercenary named Douglas Kyle as revenge for the team's past crime-fighting efforts. By concentrating on the team's weaknesses, Kyle implements his plan: Face is captured after being tricked by a beautiful woman. In a similar situation, Murdock is trapped when looking after an injured dog. B.A. and Hannibal then find themselves becoming sick from drugged milk that King, one of Kyle's men, had delivered. Posing as a doctor, King is able to capture B.A. Knowing that he is in trouble, Hannibal contacts Tawnia and arranges for Dr. Maggie Sullivan (from the first season episode "Black Day at Bad Rock") to provide him with some much needed medical attention. After Sullivan and Tawnia arrive, Hannibal is cured. Thereby, he proceeds to the dairy that the milk was delivered from and joins up with the rest of the team (who had managed to free themselves on their own). The team rescues the dairy owner's family and then quickly defeats Kyle and his men.

Their client is "The Society of Man," a group of pacifists that have been harassed by a man named Sykes. In order to help the society build their meeting place, Face goes to the local hardware store disguised as a Bureau of Weights and Measure official and appropriates the lumber and supplies that are needed. On the way back, the team runs into Sykes and a roadblock. Using harmless smoke grenades, the supplies are successfully delivered to the society. Later, Sykes sets fire to the building site, almost killing B.A. and Murdock. However, B.A. breaks the "no violence" rule when he hits one of Sykes' men for injuring one of the society's children. Unable to deal with this violence, the society fires the team and decides to give up and move away. Regardless, Hannibal is determined to help the society anyway. Since they no longer officially work for the group, the team resorts to their usual tactics (i.e. violence) and Sykes and his men are stopped.

Murdock's condition worsens and Face decides to sneak into Decker's local command base to steal an emergency medical kit. Disguised as a soldier, Face completes his mission and rejoins the team in a small cave. Unfortunately, Decker soon arrives and captures the team. However, with Murdock's face covered with bandages, Decker believes that a still free Face is the injured member. Thereby, Face, still disguised as a soldier, is able to free the team.
